Denim Run FAQ
What are the Denim Runs?
The Denim Runs are inclusive 5K runs and walks held in communities across the country to raise awareness about sexual assault, support survivors, and fund organizations doing critical work in prevention, advocacy, and healing.
Why denim?
Denim is worn in solidarity with survivors and stems from the global Denim Day movement, which challenges victim-blaming and harmful myths surrounding sexual assault. Wearing denim sends a clear message: what someone wears is never consent.
Do I have to wear denim?
Denim is encouraged but not required. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and empowered—you’re welcome just as you are.
Why April?
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, making it a powerful time to come together in community, amplify survivor voices, and create change through action.
What is the Wellness Festival?
After the run, all participants are invited to stay and enjoy the Wellness Festival. Held on the pier, the festival brings together inspiring companies, nonprofits, and interactive activities focused on healing, wellness, and community connection.
Do I get a medal or shirt?
Yes! All registered runners receive a finisher medal and shirt. Other merch is available at our online store
How do I start a team?
When registering, you’ll have the option to create a team. Once your team is created, you can invite others to join you and run together.
How do I join a team?
During registration, select the option to join an existing team and choose from the list.
How can I fundraise for a charity?
While registering, you’ll be prompted to select a charity to fundraise for. You’ll receive a personal fundraising page to share with your community.
How can I become an ambassador?
Once you've registered, you can use your custom referral link to invite others to join. The more participants you bring in, the more you’ll qualify for special awards and incentives from our sponsors. Once you're registered, you can find your custom referral link on your promoter dashboard here!
What if I can’t attend in person?
We offer a virtual race option, allowing you to participate from anywhere in the world. You can run on your own schedule and have your swag shipped to you while fundraising for your chosen charity.
Who does the run benefit?
Strength Through Strides partners with vetted charities across the country and around the world that support survivors through advocacy, prevention, and healing services. When you register, you choose which organization your fundraising supports.
How can our charity become an official beneficiary?
Please complete the Official Charity Application Form, and our team will be in touch shortly.
How can I bring the Denim Run to my campus or community?
We’d love that! Campuses and communities can apply to host a Denim Run locally. Click here to fill out the form to bring the run to your campus or community.
Can I run with a stroller?
The course is located on the beach, which may be challenging for strollers. While strollers are not recommended, you’re welcome to assess what feels best for you and your family.
Can I bring my pet?
Only service animals are permitted.
